Medical Oncology

Medical oncology is the specialty of internal medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, incorporating the use of chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Our medical oncology team at Goshen Center for Cancer Care, led by Director of Medical Oncology Daniel Bruetman, MD, MMM, uses an integrated approach to evaluate a patient’s need for pain management, treating side effects, psychological care and social needs, in addition to the type of chemotherapy or hormone therapy treatment and the most effective delivery system specific for those with prostate cancer.

At Goshen Center for Cancer Care, chemotherapy and hormone therapy are both used to treat metastatic prostate cancer. Through a clinical trial, chemotherapy is also successfully being used to treat high-risk, localized prostate cancer in combination with surgery.
