Complementary and
Alternative Medicine
Healing the Whole Body
At Goshen Center for Cancer Care, we’ve dedicated ourselves to a healing approach that not only attacks the disease, but considers the entire person. Physically, emotionally and spiritually. That’s why we offer complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) as an essential part of our comprehensive prostate cancer program. All in one location. And, in addition to our world-class physicians, advanced treatments and long list of supportive services. In fact, we’re the only fully integrated cancer center in the region to offer this balanced and complete approach.
To provide you with this unparalleled scope of treatment options, our nationally recognized CAM program is led by Director of Integrative Care Marcia Prenguber, ND, FABNO,
a board-certified naturopathic oncologist and one of a limited number of naturopathic physicians to accomplish the designation of a distinguished Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. On a daily basis, Dr. Prenguber and her staff work closely with our medical, surgical and radiation oncologists to develop and implement cancer treatment programs that integrate whole-person therapies with conventional treatment to achieve overall health and wellness.
How It Works
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) consists of a wide variety of therapies, including, but not limited to, naturopathic medicine, nutritional counseling, acupuncture, psychoneuroimmunology, spiritual counseling and massage.
Our naturopathic physicians treat each patient by taking into account individual physical, spiritual and emotional factors, recognizing the harmonious functioning of all aspects of your life as being essential to health. Since CAM is most effective when used at the onset of conventional therapy, you’ll meet with one of our specialists as soon as you enter our doors. At that time, we’ll work with you one-on-one to develop a plan incorporating these non-traditional therapies to help strengthen your body before, during and after conventional cancer treatment. Plus, our experts will provide strategies for long-term cancer prevention and health maintenance, while working to improve your energy and overall quality of life.
To further benefit those battling cancer, The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, within the National Institutes of Health and created by the U.S. Congress, is dedicated to exploring CAM practices in the world of modern medicine, guiding their safe and effective use. At Goshen Center for Cancer Care, CAM therapies are an integral part of our treatment program, providing a balance of conventional and complementary care.
